Acrylic or Poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) is a thermoplastic, which is available in a wide range of colours and finishes including opaque, transparent, UV reactive, luminescent and mirrored.

All of our mirrored acrylics contain a mirrored side and a grey coated side which provides the reflective properties of this material. The mirrored side of this material is protected with a plastic film which protects the material during our machining processes as well as during shipment.

**IMPORTANT** We cut all of our mirrored acrylics from the back with the mirror side facing down. This allows us to engrave the back of the mirrored acrylic so that details can be seen through the front of the mirrored material. This means that you will need to flip or 'mirror' your designs BEFORE submitting them to be cut from any of our mirrored acrylics. **IMPORTANT**

Acrylic is easy to handle and process and laser cuts extremely well. Peel back the protective film and you will find a clean, reflective surface.

Acrylic does behave in a brittle manner when loaded or subjected to any significant impact force and is more prone to scratching than conventional, inorganic glass.

This material has a thickness tolerance of + or - 15% of the materials overall thickness.

Gluing & Joining
We recommend using either an Epoxy Resin such as E6000, a plastic cement such as Tensol or a cyanoacrylate cement (superglue) for bonding acrylic. However solvents such as Dichloromethane and Chloroform can also be used to fuse and set the plastic at the joint, creating an almost invisible weld.

Pre-drill screw holes prior to application to avoid splitting.

Common applications
Jewellery design, model making, point of sale, signage & display, forming & fabrication, furniture and glazing.
