Cast acrylic or Poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) is a thermoplastic, which is available in a wide range of colours and finishes including opaque, transparent, UV reactive, glitter, metallic and luminescent.

All of our metallic acrylics come supplied with protective film on both sides; offering protection during our machining processes as well as during shipment.

Our metallic acrylics are a single sided product with the metallic effect on one face only. Due to the directional nature of this material a slight variation in colour may occur.

The lighter colours in our metallic range can experience a slight discolouration along their cut edge in the form of thin, dark vertical lines. This usually occurs where the laser changes direction as it cuts.

Cast Acrylic is easy to handle and process and laser cuts extremely well. Peel back the protective film and you will find a clean, surface.

Cast acrylic can behave in a brittle manner when loaded or subjected to any significant impact force and is more prone to scratching than conventional, inorganic glass. Check out our 'tutorials' section where you will find a growing knowledge-base of what can and cannot be achieved with this material.

This material has a thickness tolerance of + or - 15% of the materials overall thickness.

Gluing & Joining
We recommend using either an Epoxy Resin such as E6000, a plastic cement such as Tensol or a cyanoacrylate cement (superglue) for bonding acrylic. However solvents such as Dichloromethane and Chloroform can also be used to fuse and set the plastic at the joint, creating an almost invisible weld.

Pre-drill screw holes prior to application to avoid splitting.

Common applications
Jewellery design, model making, point of sale, signage & display, forming & fabrication, furniture and glazing.
